Dr. Tanny Tarafder graduated from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka. She pursued her career in Surgery and completed her surgical training in Mitford Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital. She has been awarded Fellowship (FCPS, Surgery) by BCPS (Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons). To further increase her knowledge, she availed Membership (MRCS) of Royal College of Surgeons, UK.
She was awarded Fellowship in Surgical Oncology in 2019 that consisted of subspecialty training in breast cancer surgery including Oncoplastic and Reconstructive breast surgery at the National Cancer Centre (NCC) Singapore.
She excelled in the training course for the management of breast diseases at the Department of Endocrine Surgery in Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, India. She expert in Laparoscopic Choleystetomy, Laparoscopic Appendiceclomy, Hernia Repair (Laparoscopic/Open), Anal Fissure, Hemorrhoid/Piles, Anal Fistula Surgery, Breast Tumor/Cancer Surgery (Breast Conserving Surgery, Oncoplastic Surgery, Reconstructive Breast Surgery).
She has considerable experience and expertise in General Surgery, especially in the areas of Breast and Colorectal diseases, hernia and laparoscopic surgery. She has particular interest in modernizing the current surgical method practiced in our country by using updated technologies of diagnosis and cure. She keeps herself updated by attaining international seminars and training courses to constantly be with the international standards.
She is a lifetime member of Association of Breast Surgeons of Bangladesh (ABSB), Asian Society of Mastology (ASOMA), and Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Bangladesh (SLSB). Breast Conserving Surgery and Laparoscopic Hernia Repair are two particular areas of interest for her. She attended workshop on Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in Pune, India, which was jointly conducted by International School of Breast Oncoplasty, Pune, India and University of East Anglia, UK.
She has presented multiple papers in national and international conferences and has a number of publications.
