Dr. Mahmuda Zaman completed MBBS from Dhaka Medical College (DMC) in 1999. She served the Army Medical Corps during the initial 8 years of her professional journey. At that stage, she decided to make her career in Paediatrics and received one-year training at the Department of Paediatrics of CMH Dhaka to that effect. However, to have an all-round exposure in Paediatrics, she left defence service and engaged herself into full-time residential training at the Paediatrics Department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
Dr. Mahmuda qualified FCPS in Paediatrics in the year 2011 and started her career as a paediatrician at the then Apollo Hospitals Dhaka in the same year. Over about eight years’ time, she extensively practised general paediatrics at Apollo Hospital. It is at this time she decided to pick up Paediatric – Haemato Oncology as her ultimate career. In July 2019, Dr. Mahmuda joined CMC Vellore, India to have a real life exposure to subcontinental paediatric haemato oncological scenario.
On completion of one-year international fellowship at CMC Vellore, she joined Square Hospital Dhaka as Associate Consultant of Paediatric Haemato Oncology in August 2020. At Square Hospital, she used to look after general paediatric cases, paediatric haematology, blood cancer and other childhood cancers. She is particularly expert at chemotherapy, haematological and cancer related procedures. Within one year of her joining at Square Hospital, she has gained formidable trust of the childhood cancer patients and guardians. Dr. Mahmuda is a highly rehearsed name to her patients’ guardians, especially those returning from India.
Dr. Mahmuda regularly attends the conferences on paediatric haematology – oncology at home and abroad. She has a number of publications in reputed medical journals of the country.
